The Livingston Gun Club is a private shooting club located in Brighton, Michigan, USA. We are a club that is affiliated with the National Rifle Association (NRA), Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC), and the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA). We are a club that takes pride in our right to firearms ownership. In fact, NRA membership is a condition of membership at our club. This is a long-standing tradition at Livingston Gun Club. We have strict guidelines and rules for use of firearms at our club, therefore our ranges are not open to the public for casual shooting, sighting in of rifles, etc. Safety rules are a very important part of life at the Livingston Gun Club, so much so that there is a 140+ page safety manual and a 50 question safety test that must be passed before you can become a member.

For folks who are not members, please keep in mind that we host several matches or competitions each month, and all members of the shooting community are welcomed and encouraged to participate.

(A very brief) History of Livingston Gun Club

Although there is documentation that organized shooting took place as early as 1951, the Livingston Gun Club was officially incorporated on April 14th, 1955. A clubhouse was built around the early 1960's, and the facility at that time wasn't much more than a small depression in the ground and a parking lot. Soon after, the membership began the lengthy process of excavating the property to create "pits" with a more significant berm, in the interest of safety. Around 1978, the club started the annual ritual of hosting "Hunter Safety" classes, a hunting license requirement here in the State of Michigan. The club endured its share of legal battles in recent history, mostly surrounding the massive growth of subdivisions and housing developments in the area. The club is currently in full compliance with NRA Range Safety guidelines, using overhead baffling systems on all centerfire ranges. Yes folks, we're VERY strict about safety (and all of the other) rules, and will continue to be that way.

Where does the "A" in the logo come from?

The club's logo (as seen at the introduction to our web page), is a triangle with an "A" in the center. At one point in time, the NRA was much more significantly involved in assisting clubs in the running of shooting matches. In that time, there were three types of club "ratings" used by the NRA. This rating was representative of the percentage of club membership who were NRA members. The "A" rating meant that the club in question was 100% NRA, and that is in fact true of the Livingston Gun Club to this very day.

What kinds of shooting we do?

Our club typically hosts two shooting matches (or competitions) each month. We currently hold competitions in the disciplines of Practical Pistol (USPSA/IPSC) and Practical 3-Gun (USPSA). Sign-up for matches starts around 8:30am, and the shooting starts at 9:30am. Last sign-up is at 9:25. Entry fees are $20 for the pistol matches and up to $20 for the 3-Gun matches—less if all 3 guns are not entered in the match. The schedule for matches is generally as follows:
